Step 1: Apply for Admission

The most convenient way to apply to SCCC is online. You can also download an application and fax to (973) 579-5226 or mail it to Sussex County Community College, One College Hill Road, Newton, NJ, 07860. ATTN: Admissions. When your application is complete, you will receive a letter with an official SCCC Student ID number. Once you have your Student ID number you can proceed to the next steps.

Step 2: Take the College Placement Test – Accuplacer (if needed)

Do you have an SAT score of at least 530 for Mathematics and 540 for Critical Reading before March 2016? SAT score of at least 530 for Mathematics and 480 or higher in the new Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section after March 2016?

OR

Do you have an unofficial college transcript demonstrating successful completion of college-level English and Mathematics?

OR

Have you taken a Placement Test at another college? If you have answered “Yes” to any of the above questions, you may move onto Step 3. If not, you will need to take the College Placement Test. The College Placement Test (Accuplacer) will help us know which classes will be right for you. The walk-in testing schedule is posted online. Study materials and sample test questions are available by clicking here. Students who prepare do better! When you take the test bring a valid photo ID. Your scores will print immediately following completion of the test.

Step 3: File for Financial Aid (recommended)

Apply for financial aid by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov. SCCC’s ID # is 025688. Once you complete the FAFSA and register for classes please email or visit the Financial Aid Office to determine the status of your aid. More information on financial aid is available here.

Step 4: Seek Advisement

New high school students attending SCCC: Sign up to attend a SOAR Session (Student Orientation Advising & Registration) at scccsoar.eventbrite.com Click here for more details about SOAR.

New students who have have not recently graduated from high school and/or attended a previous college: Visit the Student Advising and Counseling Center in the Administration Building – B206.

New transfer students who have attended another college or university: Visit the Student Advising and Counseling Center – B206. Bring a copy of your prior college transcripts with you for advisement purposes.

Step 5: Register for Courses

After advisement, take your completed registration form to the Registrar’s Office and we will formally register you for your courses. If you are able to register online, click Online Registration Instructions for detailed instructions.

Step 6: Make Payment Arrangements

Tuition payments can be made online or in person at the Bursar’s Office. Spread your tuition payments over several months with our interest-free Payment Plan. Please email (bursar@sussex.edu) or call (973) 300-2106x2114 if you have any questions.
